Frequently Asked Questions

What style of photography do you provide?

We are predominantly reportage style documentary photographers so we shoot and record the evens as they happen without getting in the way of proceedings. In addition to this we excel at location wedding portraiture using location studio light for set up couple shots and groups.

What happens if your equipment goes wrong and you lose all my wedding photos?

We shoot with cameras that have twin built in card slots. This enables us to have an in-camera back up as we shoot. In addition we download the cards simultaneously to both the local drive on a MacBook Pro and an external Hard Disk Drive. The cards also are not deleted until the job is delivered. We have 4 Nikon D5 cameras at the venue at all times should there be a mechanical failure. Essentially we're backed up from the moment of capture for the whole process until after delivery.

Can you also cover my engagement party?

Yes, however this would have to be arranged in advance depending on our availability. This would be a chargeable extra to cover an engagement shoot.

Do I have to have both of you? Can’t I pay half and just have one of you guys?

We have long since arrived at the winning formula for comprehensive wedding coverage. We both shoot providing two perspectives simultaneously and we also assist each other for location studio light when required. This is why we come together as a package.

How long will you stay at our wedding?

We're usually at the venue to cover the bride getting ready through until after the first dance. However if required we can tailor the package to suit your needs.

Why Do you Charge so much?

There are several reasons we charge what we do. Firstly, we arrange a meeting with you to discuss the order of the day and plan the details and logistics of the day. If required, we also visit for site recconasance prior to the wedding day. In addition to this we deploy state of the art Nikon D5 cameras, Leica M system cameras and lenses. We also have in camera back up using twin XQD memory cards. We each have several redundant systems so a failure of a camera or lens on the day will have zero impact on the photographic yield. We also deploy Profoto location lighting systems radio triggers and LED lights to add quality light as we shoot.  Also we've been full time professional for decades and we are not weekend warriors. At least 4 man days go into the edit part of the job which we also factor in. It's a lot of specialised work to shoot a wedding properly and keep all the imagery backed up throughout the entire workflow.

Who attends our wedding?

There are two of us shooting. The huge advantage of this strategy is that we can assist each other when lighting is required, and cover alternative perspectives simultaneously.

How much is the deposit?

A 10% deposit is required to secure the date. The remainder is due 3 weeks before the wedding. Payments can be made by BACS transfer.

Do you have a contract?

Yes. It is sent over with booking details.

Do you offer any other services?

We are masters at still photography and we don't offer video services.

Are you full-time professional photographers?

We are full time professional photographers and have been for many years. There isn't much we haven't shot, including celebrity Weddings and Royal Weddings.

Can you photograph in different styles if we ask you?

We tend to avoid cliche wedding shots in favour of a more fine art, real, soulful style. Do check out our portfolio on the homepage to get a feel for the style we provide. We are however happy to discuss any ideas you may have.

It's wise to hire us for the style we naturally provide or find an alternate style of photography that suits you.

Do you photograph group shots?

We try not to shoot though a long list of group shots as this can distract too much from the natural flow of the day. A few group shots is fine but the delays created by waiting to assemble a long list of group shots can be tiresome for all.

Be advised. To shoot a long list of groups can take a long time and gets quite tedious. There is always someone at the bar. The more setup stuff you have, the less time you have of images by yourselves, and the fun candid, storytelling images.

It's best to shoot a nearest and dearest shot of both the Bride's side and the Groom's side, plus a group of the Bridesmaids, Ushers and Best Man, then everyone can relax and enjoy a day that shouldn't be dominated by too many group shots.

Do you photograph the large group shot of everyone at the wedding?

We would be inclined to advise against the large group shot of everyone as it’s quite a dated shot these days. It can potentially take up a lot of time during a day when the time flashes past at an alarming rate. It's best to invest that time on creating more photographs of you and your guests genuinely having a lovely time. If you feel it's an essential shot, then yes we can and will shoot the group shot of everyone.

Are there any hidden costs?

The prices quoted are fully inclusive. There are no hidden extras unless the wedding is located overseas or further than a couple of hours drive away from the M25 (see below)

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included, unless the location is over 2 hours drive away from London.  We can quote for destinations further afield which may require overnight accommodation. For overseas destinations, we would liaise and make arrangements accordingly.

Do we get the photos on CD?

Your Photographs will be supplied via electronic transfer. We also provide a USB memory stick in a small presentation case.

What happens if you are sick on the day?

It has never happened, however the contingency is that we know lots of professional photographers who can cover in the unlikely scenario of debilitating illness. There are two if us, so it’s extremely unlikely you would end up with a no photography on the day.

Are you insured?

Absolutely! We have professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

What equipment do you use?

We shoot with state of the art equipment. The latest flagship Nikon D5 cameras and lenses. In addition for some discreet work we use the Leica M10. We use Profoto lighting for location studio light where required.

Who owns the copyright of the wedding pictures?

We do. But we grant you full printing rights. Meaning you can print, copy and display how you please. I own the copyright for commercial reasons. For instance, if a large brand wanted to use one of your wedding pictures, they would need to discuss image rights with me beforehand. I, of course, would let you guys know anyway, and if you didn’t want it happening, it wouldn’t.

Are your prices guaranteed?

For bookings made now, I guarantee the price stays as is at booking. Price sheets usually go up each year otherwise.

Do you supply wedding albums?

Yes. However, it’s not compulsory as the pictures are yours to print, copy or display as you please. This allows you to then get an album made privately if you so wish.

Do you do a site visit of a venue if you’ve not been before?

Not usually required. We know how to work a venue, research before we arrive and then recite the site when we arrive.  unless you'd like to arrange that well in advance which would be chargeable.

How long before we get our photos?

4-6 weeks later, your full set of images (350+) are edited to our unique style. This means you can view and share with your close family and friends without worrying about uploading them all.

A short period after this you receive your USB containing all your edited wedding pictures.

How long does it take to get the album created?

After you receive your fully edited wedding gallery, we start to put together your favourites for the album. There is no set time for this as I want you to choose the ones you want without any pressure. Once the images are chosen and I have designed the album for you, it is sent off to Folio to be created. Different times of the year mean different wait times, but on average you can look at 3-4 weeks before the album arrives by post.

We’re quite nervous about being photographed?

After years of working professionally we have developed lots of ways to put our subjects at ease for the set up shots. For the reportage, documentary work, we operate very discretely and you might not even notice you're being photographed. We always aim to meet you prior to the big day to establish a vibe, so we're not strangers on the day. We aim to capture some genuine relaxed and soulful work on the day and also make it full of fun and creativity. It's all very relaxed.
